My oldest daughter, Kendra inspired me to pursue my coaching as well as my two other children, Jayson and Cassie. Back in 1997, we hooked up with a 4H group that was starting an archery program. Kendra had tried other sports but wanted something different. She saw Justin Huish in the 1996 Olympics. We went to there practice place, were handed equipment and she shot. Thats all it took.
From that moment I because the secretary, treasurer and coach to her and other students. not planned just happened
When the Head coach left for Texas the program was turned over to Jay and I. for the most part, Jay has been more in the background with equipment and field prep. In the past I spent on average 30 to 50 hours a week working to continue not only the Roadrunners but the New Mexico State Archery Association during the years up to 2014. Prior to 2009, I was working on getting my students to the 2004 $2008 Olympics as a level 2. When I made the decision to go for my level 3, it surprised a few people. The more I have been around the sport the more I wanted to achieve more as a coach to be better for my students.
I have been blessed to work with some awesome archers who are grate friends (& Family.) Kendra Harvey, Shawn Rice, Peter Kelchner, and others sho have graced me with there presents in my life. Their desire to be "Better" inspired me to better myself. My desire to be better is constantly worked on with reading, Studying and working with other archers, and coaches.
